Multi-Curious Weekend

Multi Genre weekend coming up. Dance Party Friday @ Mohawk The Field and The Juan Maclean will be stopping by. I've recently come to love The Field and especially one track off his new album Yesterday and Today and on top of that there is a Foals remix which actually turned me on to this Swedish minimilist in the first place. Download it and go see them.

Post-Rock Saturday also @ Mohawk (Mohawk is doing everybody check out their calendar this summer) with San Marcos' This Will Destroy You, if you are into Explosions in the Sky these guys are for you. I will be at this show so will try to take some decent video.

Also Saturday Shoegaze at the Scoot Inn with Austin's Experimental Aircraft.

The Field - The More That I Do (Foals Remix)

This Will Destroy You - The World is Our

Manchester Orchestra- Emo's

Well I drug my tired ass up to Emo's Tuesday night for a wonderful show by Manchester Orchestra. Too bad it was right after a long weekend as it was not as enjoyable as it should of been for me. However, they were absolutly amazing and I'm so happy I made it. Their live presence and a near sell-out crowd made for a great experience. Put them on your must see list

You Were an Accident.......Ponytail, Harlem @ RED 7

Ponytail are a class project that caught on and have a sound all their own. They were voted best live band in Baltimore in 07 quite a feat for anyone who was at the Dan Deacon show at Emo's last month. But they have the same individuality that seems to emanate from that Yankee town. They play Red 7 Wednesday night with Austin imports Harlem.

MATT and KIM - MAJOR LAZER (Diplo and Switch)- A-TRAK - JULY 10th

UPDATE- GO TO HOMEPAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SHOW IS AT SPEAKEASY

Well Shit in the middle of writing this I went to the Bacardi website and it looks like MSTRKRFT and Santigold are not going to be at this show FUCK!!!!!!! but anyways check out my vids from SXSW and realize ONLY Matt and Kim, Major Lazer, and A-Trak have been announced for the Austin show. Which is still great I love Matt and Kim. Looks like show will be at the Austin Music Hall (Pollstar) or maybe just a Matt and Kim Spoon aftershow at Stubbs (Their Myspace).

(I just came across this today look who's coming to the July 10th. If you were lucky enough to be at MSTRKFRFT's SXSW showcase outside at Radio Room or had the balls to jump the fence and then later break it down. It was my favorite of SX check out my video of the Mounties clearing the alley next to the entrance. Also Matt and Kim's showcase was probably my number 2 of SX. Come on Santogold is on this bill, now I don't feel bad about skipping her Stubb's show for Camera Oscura at Antone's.)

So now I must choose Santogold or Camera Obscura.....

Friendly Fires

England's Friendly Fires have recently become one of my favorite new bands. I did miss them at SXSW though and it doesn't look good as they're only booked overseas and at Lolla, this summer. Their music is wonderful but these remixes add to it and Au Revoir Simone is on "Paris". Who will be here June 6th at Mohawk.

Röyksopp

You may remember their track Remind Me from the Geico commercial, but this pair from Norway have been around for over a decade. I just recently came across some of their tracks and remixes and have them currently in my daily playlist. They have a new album Junior out recently so maybe we'll get lucky with a US tour.

Royksopp - Remind Me
Royksopp - What else is There (Ministry of Sound Remix)
Royksopp - Remind Me (Ernest St. Laurent Moonfish Mix)
Royksopp - Happy up Here (Boys Noize Remix)
